Tableware from fallen leaves · Kongu Nadu

The forest drops it.
We just press it.

Every Savika plate begins as an areca palm sheath that fell on its own. No tree cut, no branch pulled, no pulp made. Washed, sun-dried, pressed once at 140 °C — and back in the soil within 90 days.

Why a leaf

Most plates start by taking something.
Ours starts with what already fell.

A paper plate

Starts as a tree

Most paper plates begin as timber pulp — and once food-soiled, paper can rarely be recycled again.

A plastic or foam plate

Starts as oil

Moulded from petrochemicals, used for one meal, and present in the landscape long after everyone at the table has forgotten the meal.

A Savika plate

Starts as a fallen leaf

The areca palm sheds its leaf sheath naturally, year-round, whether we collect it or not. We collect it. The palm never notices us.

The cycle

Fallen, served, returned.

One loop, about a season long. Nothing goes into a plate but a leaf, water, sunlight and heat — and nothing is left of it but soil.

The leaf cycle: falls, gathered, washed and dried, pressed at 140 degrees, served, returns to soil. The ring stays open at the soil stage.
The ring stays open at soil — it closes when you compost the plate. The date is printed on the box.
01
The leaf falls.
Areca palms shed their leaf sheaths naturally through the year.
02
We gather it.
Collected from grove floors across Kongu Nadu. Nothing is cut.
03
Water and sun.
Washed in water, dried in open sun. No bleach, no chemical bath.
04
One hot press.
A single stroke at 140 °C gives it shape. Heat and pressure, nothing else.
05
It serves.
Weddings, caterers, kitchens — rigid under hot, wet, heavy meals, first course to last.
06
It returns.
Home-composts within 90 days. The date is printed on the box.
The range

One leaf. A whole table.

Every sheath is cut into our signature triple — the geometry behind our mark. Rigid under hot, wet, heavy food, first course to last.
